The second annual Rutgers Giving Day is an opportunity for the Newark College of Arts & Sciences/University College community to show the world what it can accomplish together.
On Rutgers Giving Day, alumni/ae, students, faculty, staff, and friends will “paint the day scarlet” by giving to their favorite Rutgers causes and by inspiring others to join them. Through social media challenges held throughout the day, participants will have opportunities to earn additional funds for the areas they want to support.
Last year through Rutgers Giving Day, the university raised more than $1.25 million from 4,766 donors. The Newark College of Arts & Sciences raised $10,192 from 89 donors and a bonus of $4,734 through challenges. Let’s make this year even more successful!
On Giving Day, schools will compete to see who has the most donors. The number of donors will determine in part determine how many bonus dollars an area receives, which means that even small donations are important. A donation as little as $5 can help fund everything from emergency financial aid to bringing exciting speakers to campus to funding undergraduate research. Social media challenges throughout the day will provide even more opportunities to win money for your preferred cause, so engagement is just as crucial as monetary donations.
Impact of Giving
Your gift will directly impact lives, like that of Naveen Kotecha, an economics major, who was given the opportunity to pursue undergraduate research through a fellowship funded by donors. Without this funding, he says he would not have the competitive edge to pursue his goal of pursuing a PhD in a top Economics program. “This fellowship has given me academic credibility and I hope that more students will have the same opportunities.”
